Divisions
Our biggest changes for 2012 will be within our divisions. After a couple years of research and feedback from our membership during the annual post-season survey, we have decided to push forward with the following divisions: *Changes from 2011 are in RED*

Boys
4-7
Micro: 8-9, 10-11
Tour: 10-13 (9 Holes), 13-15 (18 Holes), 16-18 (18 Holes)
Masters: 13 & Under (9 Holes), 13-15 (18-Holes), 16-18 (18-Holes)

Girls
4-7
Micro: 8-11
Tour: 12-18 (9 Holes), 16-18 (18 Holes)
Masters: 12-15 (18 Holes), 16-18 (18 Holes)

Explanation: With the boys we wanted a better way to transition a player into playing 18 holes. Over the past couple of years we have seen such a wide range of ability levels in the 10-13 Tour division. We feel by rearranging the younger Masters division to be 13 and under it will even out the skill level and create a more even playing field. It might even grab some of the top tier Micro players to jump to the Masters and try and qualify for the Tournament of Champions (see below).

For the girls, there were a couple key changes. First, we expanded the younger nine-hole division to include girls up to 18. This will help with those older girls who are just getting into the game by offering them a place to play. Second, we adjusted the ages for the older Tour division and both Masters divisions. Our older divisions will now be 16-18 and the younger Masters division will be 12-15. We feel this will even out the numbers within those divisions and create a more balanced field during each event.

Masters Division Eligibility List

The 2012 list will be made available online on February 1st by 5:00 PM CST. This list is created by reviewing every player’s profile from 2011 to determine which division we feel they should compete in for 2012. If your name appears on this list then you MUST compete within the Masters division for your age group. If your name does not appear on the list but you want to be added, please contact the office via email or telephone and we will walk you through the steps. Any new player to be added will require playing ability verification from a local PGA Professional or coach.

TaylorMade/adidas Championship Series (Masters Division)
We continue to tweak these events year after year and 2012 will be no exception. We are expecting a strong schedule with Cherokee CC in Knoxville and Old Fort CC in Murfreesboro already tentatively on board to host. Our strong relationship with TaylorMade and adidas will continue as they have signed on to support these events with accessories and clothing at each event. All of these events will be ranked events on the National Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Season Ending Championships
In 2012 the Masters Division will be heading back to the Golf Club of Tennessee in Kingston Springs for the Tournament of Champions. The event will take place on July 24 & 25 and players will once again be eligible for this event based on their adjusted scoring average throughout the year.

The winner in both the Boys 16-18 and Girls 16-18 divisions will each receive one (1) AJGA tournament exemption.  For information on the AJGA’s “Performance Based Exemption” program, please visit their website at www.ajga.org.

We will also be conducting four (4) Tour Division Regional Championships. These will take place during the week of July 16th in the following regions of the state:

West Tennessee
Middle Tennessee
Chattanooga/Knoxville
Knoxville/Tri-Cities

These events are open to all Tour Division players and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Aspen Grove Challenge will stay at the The Little Course at Conner Lane in Franklin and will take place on July 21 & 22. Players will be eligible for this event based on their adjusted scoring average throughout the year. We have continued to revamp the scoring average system within the Micro Division to put more emphasis on playing more difficult golf courses. Please visit the “Season-ending Championships” section on our website for more information.

    2. TaylorMade/adidas Championship Series Events:  $125.00

Schedule Release
We will release the full schedule during the opening of membership registration (see below) on February 20, 2012.

Registration
Starting February 20, 2012 players will be able to sign up for tour membership. At this time we will be able to confirm each players division prior to them signing up for individual tournaments. This will help our office in processing eligibility questions prior to players signing up for tournaments.

Regular tournament registration will open on April 21, 2012. As an incentive to those members who attend one of spring rules and policy clinics (see below) we will open early tournament registration for them on April 14, 2012. We feel it is important for our members to become educated on the Rules of Golf and we hope this incentive will entice many of you to attend.

Spring Rules and Policy Clinics
With 2012 being a rules change year for the USGA, it is even more important that we have strong participation in this years' clinics. For the upcoming Spring we will be conducting these clinics in two different ways:

1.)    Online –We will offer a series of weeknight webinars where our members can receive rules education from the comfort of their home. Each webinar will be limited to 100 participants.

2.)    On Course – During the weekends in March and early April we will hold on course rules sessions to better demonstrate the functionality in the rules of golf. Players will also receive their member packets at these on course clinics. Each session will be limited to 100 participants.

*By attending one of the above rules clinics, each member will have access to early tournament registration in April (see above). More details on how to sign up will be available when websites are re-launched in January.*

Awards
In 2012 we will award the following achievements during the Toyota Awards Ceremony in late July:

  1. Toyota Player of the Year in all Masters Divisions
  2. Toyota Spirit of Golf in all three categories (Masters, Tour, Micro)
  3. Vince Gill Volunteer of the Year
