FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Franklin, TN.) – Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there. We know we would not be where we are today without the support of our member’s parents, so we say a special thanks for your continued support of junior golf in Tennessee.

Can’t believe we are already through three weeks of the Junior Tour season, feels like we just got started. Couple important things for everybody in this weeks update:

  1. Pace of Play: Had a successful week overall with our pace, but a couple events struggled getting around in under 4 hours, 30 minutes. From talking with the field staff throughout the week, it seems players are becoming complacent with the new policies and not continuing to work hard on keeping up their pace. As we indicated from the beginning of the year, this new policy is not a trial run, it is permanent. We need our members to work hard each and every event to make sure they are following these new guidelines. We are still witnessing that it has been difficult for the members to catch on to the most important policy of, “the first person to finish the hole needs to IMMEDIATELY walk to the next teeing ground”. More times then not, we are seeing that the first person to finish will walk to their bag and act like they are gathering up their equipment to walk to the next hole, but in reality they just stick around and wait for everyone to finish. We can’t stress this enough that this particular guideline is the one that makes everyone else work. We understand that it is “different” from any other tournament you have played in, but its important that we work hard to get golf rounds under 4 hours, 30 minutes to be sure everyone is enjoying their time on the golf course. The longer the rounds get, the less people want to play, the less opportunities are available to participate. We appreciate everyone’s hard work in making this happen and don’t be afraid to ask questions if you have any.

  2. Spots Available in Events with Deadlines Next Week: We have a full slate of events with deadlines next week and some spots are still available. See below for specifics:
    1. June 25: Dead Horse Lake GC (Knoxville) – 24 spots left
    2. June 25: Ridgefields GC (Tri Cities) – 22 spots left
    3. June 25: Brownsville CC (West TN) – 4 spots left
    4. June 25: Clarksville CC (Middle TN) – 27 spots left
    5. June 26&27: TMACS at Germantown CC – 26 spots left
    6. June 28: Oak Ridge CC (Knoxville) – 15 spots left
    7. June 28&29: TMACS at Harrison Bay – 11 spots left
    8. June 28: Whittle Springs GC (Knoxville) – 27 spots left

  3. Caddie Tip Of The Week: As we stated last week, we have seen a bunch of new faces in the Micro Division this year, so we thought it best to offer a “Caddie Tip Of The Week” to educate the new players and parents on some do’s and do not’s for caddies. This week’s tip: “Caddies must NOT do anything to help the players while they make their stroke at the ball”. Such helping actions would include: standing behind the player on an extension of their line of play during their stroke, guiding their club along the swing path during the stroke, laying a club down for alignment and leaving it there while the player makes a stroke (if anything other then a club is laid down prior to the stroke, i.e. alignment sticks, the player would be subject to disqualification for using a training aid during a stipulated round). Caddies are allowed to take many of these actions prior to the stroke, but once the player is set and ready to swing; the caddies must stand to the side and let the player take over.

  4. Season Ending Championship Standings: Tomorrow evening we will post our first installment of the Tournament of Champions (Masters Division) and Aspen Grove Challenge (Micro Division) standings. These can be viewed tomorrow around 7:00 PM CDT under the “Season Ending Championships” tab on www.tgajuniortour.com. For the Tour Division players, registration for our four (4) Tour Division Regional Championships opens the morning of July 2nd. More information will be available towards the end of June.

Let us know if you have any questions about the above items. Hope everyone enjoys today’s final round of the U.S. Open. Looks like it will be an exciting finish.

Kind Regards,

Steve and Lissa
